Job Purpose:
This position is responsible for Oracle System Database Administration Functions by providing technical expertise, installation, maintenance, and support for database and data communications systems software products (e.g. Oracle 10g & 11G, OEM Grid Control, Oracle Clusterware/Grid Infrastructure, Linux, RMAN, & Commvault or other Enterprise Backup tools).

Deliverables:
•Ability to articulate the future architecture for Oracle database installations in the environment and work towards moving the organization in this direction.
•Experience with planning and implementing Oracle upgrades and patching to include new major releases, patch set installations, and application of quarterly security patches.
•Hands on experience of the OEM functionality including diagnostics and tuning pack features, setting up and responding to alerts, & job scheduling.
•Ability to specify access levels, as well as developing guidelines for appropriate user access.
•Can readily answer user questions, and confer with coworkers to determine the impact of changes in our environment in terms of both application availability/impact and opportunity costs.
•Can establish database runtime parameters and calculate optimum settings by following industry standards, conduct performance tuning, and regularly review SUSE Linux server capacities for memory, CPU and other usage.
•Ability to train other system database administrators and internal users as needed.

Person Specification:
•University Degree in Computer Engineering
•Oracle Certified Professional
•Minimum of 3 years of experience in Oracle DB.
•Exposure in Oracle Apps (ERP) suites with additional knowledge in advanced Unix administration
•Oracle 10g (3 Yrs)
•Oracle 11g (3 Yrs)
•Oracle Enterprise Manager (3 Yrs)
•Oracle RMAN (2 Yrs)
•Linux - Suse (2 Yrs)
