Jobs Description : POSITION: Translator
REPORTS TO: Office Manager
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To operate the firm’s translation division and generate income from the translation division. To convert written material from Arabic to English and vice versa ensuring that, as far as possible, the translated version is as accurate as the source language text.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Run the firm’s translation division;
Attract clients and generate income from the translation division;
Translates documents and other material from Arabic to English and vice versa requested by the attorneys and clients;
reading through original material and rewriting it in the target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained;
researching legal, technical and scientific phraseology to find the correct translation;
liaising with clients to discuss any unclear points;
proofreading and editing final translated versions;
providing clients with a grammatical, well-expressed final version of the translated text, usually as a word-processed document;
using the internet and email as research tools throughout the translation process;
providing quotations for translation services provided;
consulting with experts in specialist areas;
Perform other duties as assigned.

Language proficiency in English & Arabic

dictating translations into a tape recorder or dictaphone;
using specialist dictionaries, thesauruses and reference books to find the closest equivalents for terminology and words used;

retaining and developing specialist knowledge on specialist areas of translation; and
meeting deadlines.
