A senior marketing assistant supports the implementation of the firm’s marketing, client relations, and public relations functions. He reports to the Marketing Coordinator.
His performance is formally evaluated by the General Manager, with input from the Marketing Coordinator.
This is a part-time position through the end of 2008 C.E., at which time it will be reassessed to determine whether it should be converted to a full-time position.
Principal responsibilities
• Draft, proofread, and finalize written marketing materials for publication and distribution.
• Manage and update the firm’s marketing contacts database.
• Provide logistics and organizational support to the firm’s marketing events, with assistance from the Facilities Coordinator, as needed.
• Maintain the firm’s press releases and press clippings files.
• Conduct basic market research as directed by the Marketing Coordinator or the Senior Partner.
• Prepare the firm’s submissions to international directories and ranking services, such as Chambers Global Guide, Legal 500, and the IFLR 1000.
• Assist the Marketing Coordinator in the preparation, editing, and updating of content for the firm’s website.
• Administer, tabulate, and assist in the analysis and reporting of the firm’s client satisfaction surveys.
• Assist in liaison between professional staff members and international professional and business organizations.
• Perform other tasks and functions related to marketing, client relations, and public relations, as directed by the Marketing Coordinator or Senior Partner.
Required education and experience
A fully-qualified occupant of this position possesses these educational and experience credentials:
• A university degree in business administration, marketing, public relations, journalism, or another academic discipline relevant to the responsibilities required by this position; and
One of the following:
• At least two years successful experience in a marketing, customer relations, or public relations position with similar responsibilities; or
• At least one year of successful experience in a marketing, customer relations, or public relations position with similar responsibilities in a law firm.
Required skills and competencies
To perform the responsibilities of this position at a satisfactory level, a senior marketing assistant must demonstrate mastery of these business skills and competencies on a regular, frequent basis:
• Proficiency in the use of Powerpoint™ or similar graphic programs to create original, professionally attractive, informative marketing presentations
• Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications, such as Word™ and Excel™
• An understanding of and an ability to articulate the firm’s products, services, delivery capabilities, and competitive advantages in a clear, relevant, and compelling manner
• An ability to express original concepts and ideas clearly and correctly in Arabic
• Proficiency in the English language commensurate to those commonly found in marketing, client relations, or public relations positions in major international law firms
• The ability to undertake, plan, and complete complex assignments with minimum supervision
