Established in terms of Royal Decree M/29 of 18 October 2000 (22 Rajab 1421 Hijra) as a joint-stock company, Marafiq is owned by its four major shareholders - the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RC), Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco), and the Public Investment Fund (PIF). Seven private-sector investors make up the remaining shareholders. Marafiq started operating as a private power and water utility company on 1 January 2003, with SR 2, 5 billion of initial owner equity.
Job description
Provide current and forecast economic data relevant to Marafiq and its operating markets to facilitate the evaluation/implementation of business development proposals/initiatives and to assist senior managers in their decision making. Cost Control: Monitor the financial performance of the Economics section against budgets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon. Policies & Procedures: Recommend improvements to departmental policy and direct the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of Economics activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers. Data Collection: Collect and assimilate economic data relevant to Marafiq¡¦s commercial sectors from a variety of national, regional and international sources so that the organisation has all economic data needed to assist senior management decision-making processes.
Qualifications
University degree in Economics. Minimum Experience: 8 years experience of working with economic data in a research or financial environment. Some prior exposure to economic research in the utilities sector preferred. 3 years economic research experience in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or other GCC states.
