Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:
• B.Sc. in Petroleum or Drilling Engineering or equivalent.
Experience:
• 10 years’ varied experience in oil and gas industry including hands-on in drilling engineering and operations. Experience in subsurface and surface operations.
• Prepares all drilling activity plans in company operated and non-operated areas. Ensures all company objectives are met through proper planning of drilling targets. Supervises all drilling and related services contractor to ensure company gets the best Quality Products and Services at efficient time and optimum cost.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Provides input to the Team’s work program and budget and the Section and Department’s Business and Operating Plans.
• Planning and preparation of all drilling activities in company operated and non-operated areas such activities includes but not limited to;
• Preparation of drilling program for all Exploration and Development wells to meet the Techno-commercial objectives
• Preparation of casing design and program, mud program, cementing program, coring operation program, mud logging and sampling program.
• Preparation of procurement plans and procedures for long-lead.
• Preparation and monitoring of all drilling and work-over rig schedules to meet all company operational needs.
• Follow up of daily drilling activities and regular reporting of the progress to Drilling and Operation management with proper recommendation for any necessary action/decision to be taken.
• Supervision and preparation of all drilling and related service providers’ contracts and administration of same.
• Actively and effectively participates in technical meetings of joint venture companies and presents company’s views on various subjects.
• Ensures state of the art technology and resources and accurate input data into all drilling engineering activities planning and implementation.
• Carries out his activities according to specialized professional standards
• Works independently guided by functional objectives.
• Consults TL Drilling on major issues such as deviating from agreed Operating plans and budget.
• Plans and prepares all drilling activities in company operated and non-operated areas.
Presentations and Reports
• Documentation and preparation of a final well drilling report with all relevant technical, logistical and other activities.
• Prepares reports and papers on developments and industry trends, distributing to colleagues in the Division.
Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment
• Adheres to and implements the Company’s occupational safety and health and environment policy effectively in all of his work.
• Evaluates the impact of all his activities on the environment by participating in the development, implementation and monitoring of a sound environment protection program.
Related Assignments
• Keeps abreast of related developments within the oil development industry
• Work completed will be subject to Drilling Engineering Team Leader’s review
Job specific skills & competencies:
• Fluency in English
• Proficient Computer application skills
Internal & External Contacts:
Internal:
• Daily contacts with all departments in Exploration, Petroleum Engineering and Production to coordinate work programs and to liaise on drilling activities.
External:
• Frequent contacts with service contractors, suppliers and vendors to provide clarification on Company requirements negotiate contracts and quality assurance. Occasional contacts with representatives of other oil producing companies in the region to exchange information of mutual interest.
Problem Solving & Decision Making
• Carries out all drilling engineering activities in all company operated and non-operated areas.
• Recommends action for all major decisions for drilling operations.
• Uses objective judgment and discretion for urgent matters that require immediate actions.
• Responsible for all outcomes and results of Drilling Engineering.
• Indirectly responsible for ensuring quality of a significant portion of the company’s fixed assets.
