Job Description:
The Process Engineer is accountable for providing overall technical support to the department operations by:
* Evaluating plant performance and reporting on the equipment performance against targets Benchmarking the performance targets and initiating changes to improve the performance and cost effectiveness of the department
* Participating in monthly stock takes
Ensuring the compliance of the department to the quality system and the certification requirements.
List of activities:
* Encourage employee awareness of health, safety and environmental protection
* A close interaction and relationship with the teams to encourage effective team work and promote a high degree of safety consciousness
Participation in company initiatives to ensure a safe working environment
The development of operating procedures to ensure safe working conditions and reproducibility of results
Periodic audits to ensure the relevance of procedures and compliance by the teams Daily analysis of the critical operations to ensure maximum efficiency of the process
Initiate or participate in activities to determine the boundary limits of productivity with a view to optimizing the equipment performance Initiate projects to increase the productivity of the equipment
Mentor the teams to maximize their understanding of the process and provide a source of future technical resources.
Education and work experience:
For the Casthouse Department, a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably with a Metallurgy major, with 5 years experience in the role on ingot casting equipment of a casthouse in a primary aluminum smelter, or
For the Carbon Department, a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably with a Chemical Engineering major, and with 5 years experience in a prebake Carbon Department of a primary aluminum smelter Alternatively a Diploma man Engineering field with 10 years of work experience on the relevant equipment in either department Excellent computer skills and computer application knowledge as well as strong oral and written skills are necessary.
The ability to present technical data at a team and management level and to write clear and concise reports is essential To have worked in an environment based upon quality certification such as IS09001 or equivalent.
