The U.S. Mission in Saudi Arabia is seeking an individual for the position of Educational Advisor in the Consular Section of its Consulate General in Dhahran
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Manages and operates the Educational Advising Center at the Consulate in Dhahran, strengthening the international education exchange between the United States and Saudi Arabia. The incumbent advises, counsels and supports foreign students wishing to study in the United States, and approves a link between US-based institutions, the Consulate, and Saudi educational facilities in the Eastern Province.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
1. Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, counseling or related field, from an accredited American university.
2. Required Experience:
Five years of counseling or teaching experience.
3. Language Requirements:
English Level 4(Fluent), Arabic Level 1(Rudimentary).
4. Other Criteria:
Must support U.S. Mission and goals relating to Public Diplomacy in Saudi Arabia. Must understand and support other Public Diplomacy activities relating to education. The incumbent must also understand visa procedures for students wishing to study in the US. The jobholder must have excellent knowledge of the Saudi educational system and scholarship opportunities. The incumbent should also have excellent and detailed knowledge of the American educational system at all levels, from elementary school to post-graduate study. Must stay current on new information in these fields.
5. Other Skills:
Strong communication and persuasion skills, strong management and planning skills. Knowledge of financial management. Ability to be flexible in the face of changing circumstances.
