Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:
• B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering, Geo-sciences or equivalent.
• Fluency in English
• Computer applications

• +10 years’ varied experience in the oil industry.
Purpose of the Job
• Executing and assist in upgrading field development and reservoir management plans and programs. Includes working within the E&P Division to develop overall field development strategies in the context of companies overall business objectives. Contributes expertise to studies to appraise and set field boundaries, updates the Company’s reserve figures and provides guidelines for long term production/injection notes.
Financial Dimension:
• Monitors Direct control of Upstream budget & expenditure within the Limit of Authority as approved by the company for his position.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Manages and controls petroleum development activities in the assigned oil fields to ensure effective and economic exploitation of the Company’s hydrocarbon assets consistent with company objectives and targets. Includes issuing guidelines for daily development activities covering logging and testing, etc. Monitor overall implementation schemes.
• Exercises overall control over reservoir, geo-scientific and petroleum engineering studies in the assigned fields aimed at achieving optimal recovery of oil and gas reserves to be consistent with company development strategies.
• Assist in Managing activities aimed at developing long term production/injection forecasts.
• Assist in Managing activities aimed at developing short, medium and long term plans and injection forecasts. Assists in Generating medium and long term production and injection rates’ scenarios.
• Allocates assignments in various fields, ensures integration of schedules with rig availability and assigns approved work plan segments, for the preparation of detailed proposals.
• Ensures the regular updating of Company’s reserve estimates for all fields, based on data acquisition and understanding of the fields’ properties, reservoir characteristics and behaviors, and the introduction of new technologies.
• Assist in the preparation and of the annual reserve report to management, identifying hydrocarbon in place, estimating recoveries and outlining possibilities of production optimization.

• Assures the implementation and strict financial control of all operating and capital budgets. Reviews budgeted expenditure.
• Initiates, plans and implements efforts to maximize EOR/IOR projects.
• Actively and effectively participates in technical and managerial meeting of joint venture companies and presents company’s views on various subjects
• Carries out other similar or related duties, such as directing and coordinating all database management for assigned fields; monitoring and controlling expenses and providing justifications for major budget variations; coordinating engineering projects. Advises management on requirements to introduce new technology, implementation of enhanced oil recovery techniques and responds to Shareholders’ inquiries and requests as appropriate.

• Ensures that the Company’s occupational safety and health and environment policy is effectively implemented in all areas of work under his control, reducing unfavorable trends and ensures that corrective actions are promptly implemented. Assist in the Development of safety plans and programs in coordination with the Safety Department. Evaluates the impact of all activities under his responsibility on the environment by participating in the development, implementation and monitoring of a sound environment protection program.

• Select suitable equipment for different functions and take responsibility of maintenance of equipment.
• Design systems that help the well to flow, manage problems of fluid behavior and production chemistry.
• Maintain record of drilling and production operations.
• Simulate reservoir performance for different recovery techniques using computer models.
• Ensures state of the art technology and resources and accurate input data into reservoir models that will allow optimum development and sustainability of a healthy reservoir.
• Keeps abreast of related developments within the oil development industry. Prepares reports and papers on developments and industry trends, distributing to colleagues in the Division.
Job specific skills & competencies:
• Technical hands on experience in reservoir characterization and/or reservoir management.
• Works well and leads multi-disciplined team of professional engineers and Geo-scientists within the petroleum development function.
Internal & External Contacts:
Internally:
• Continuous contacts with Senior Manager (Director) E&P and all departments in Exploration and Production and with Engineering and Facilities to coordinate work programs.
Externally:
• Regular contacts with Partners’ representatives to provide field development information and advice. Frequent contacts with service contractors, suppliers and vendors to provide clarification on Company requirements negotiate contracts and process payments. Occasional contacts with representatives of other oil producing companies in the region to exchange information of mutual interest.
Problem Solving & Decision Making
Problem Solving:
• Works independently guided by functional objectives. Manages activities by setting and controlling specialized professional standards. Consults his manager on major issues for example deviating from agreed field development plans and those matters which require further discussions at the senior management level such as major financial or technical commitments, production targets. Work accomplishments are subject to Senior Manager’s (Director) E&P review.
Decision Making:
• Takes timely operational decisions based on techno-commercial analysis of the situation in coordination with E&P Management. Uses objective judgment and discretion for urgent matters that require immediate actions. Responsible for all outcomes and results of field development and reservoir management activities.
