  • Job Scope

      To manage the rig and rig personnel in a manner fully compliant 

      QHSE policies and procedures. To manage the company’s interest at the rig

      site in respect to our clients, the well program and all personnel on board the

      rig. It’s mandatory that he follow and obey all supervisors’ instructions to work at any job, at any time in any place as long as it’s safe.

 

·         QHSE RESPONSIBILITIES:

ü  Acts as the man in charge for the safety of all personnel on the rig and the rig camp

ü  Manages rig operations in a safe manner according to Abraj  policies and  procedures

ü  Observes proper rig operating procedures, noting unsafe practices

ü  Plays an active part in QHSE meetings, tool box meetings, the TQM program and all other company safety management systems

ü  Is proficient in STOP for supervisors and uses its techniques. Promotes the use of

ü  STOP for employees to the personnel under his supervision

ü  Ensures the crews are trained in emergency evacuation procedures

ü  Ensures that rig specific QHSE procedures are published and known by all

ü  Ensures that exemption forms are completed and approved as required

ü  Ensures that all rig modifications are formally approved as required

ü  Ensures the rig operations are conducted in accordance with Abraj  policies and procedures

ü  Ensures that all Abraj's personnel and subcontracted personnel attend the

ü  relevant safety meetings for their position and further more play an active part in these meetings

ü  Overall responsible for the compliance with all relevant HSE Standards on his rig in relation to all Persons (Employees, Service & Sub-Contractor Staff) and for the Safety and Integrity of all Plant, Equipment and tools deployed on his location.

 

·         OPERATIONS:

ü  Supervises all drilling operations

ü  Supervises the application of appropriate well control measures

ü  Supervise and plan rig moves and camp moves

ü  Abraj Energy’s Representative on the Rig - He executes disciplinary authority over all Abraj Energy’s Employees in conjunction with respective Drilling supt.

ü  Plans, manages, supervises and controls the day to day activities of the rig in compliance with Company’s QM-,DOP- and SM System, respective Drilling Contract Requirements and application of good Drilling Practice Requirements.

ü  Liaises with Client Representative on all Operational and HSE related aspects as stipulated in respective Drilling Contract or as contained in Client Instruction given from time to time in conjunction with this contract.

ü  He reports to his Drilling Superintendent on a regular basis (Morning Call) and whenever any non-routine matter arises that is out of the scope of Companies documented procedures and instruction or requested explicitly in Company’s documented Management System or by respective DS.

ü  Responsible for implementing training and instruction as assigned by management on his rig site.

ü  Responsible for the correct crew manning requirements on his site to ensure safe and continued operations.

ü  Ensures that all documentation is correct and checked for work carried out on the site.

ü  Responsible to ensure compliance and monitoring of all training requirements of rig based staff.

EQUIPMENT:

ü  Keeps equipment and systems operational in accordance with the relevant

ü  regulatory and safety requirements

ü  Monitor rig equipment and systems usage

ü  Supervises testing and checking of equipment and systems

ü  Supervises activities to ensure rig structural integrity

 

LIVING ENVIRONMENT AND SERVICES:

ü  Oversees maintenance of sanitary living environment, food preparation, handling

ü  and storage

ü  Oversees rig medical operations

ü  Oversees rig communications

 

EMERGENCY DUTIES:

ü  Secures well in emergency situation

ü  Directs well control operations

ü  Directs crew in loss of rig stability

ü  Makes decision to evacuate/abandon the rig

 

MANAGEMENT:

ü  Plans work for crew

ü  Trains crew

ü  Evaluates crews

ü  Provides motivation to supervisors and crews

ü  Supervise adherence to safety policies and procedures

ü  Provide leadership

ü  Maintain relationship with customer’s representative

ü  Control budget and inventory

ü  Maintain hand-over notes for his relief

ü  Ensure cmmunication between departments

ü  Ensure immediate supervisor is advised of all current and/or changing conditions

ü  Co-ordinate utilization of equipment and power

ü  Ensures that the drilling program is carried out in a safe and efficient manner

ü  Safeguards the physical presence of fixed assets and inventories so appropriate

ü  records will be accurate and periodically verified

ADMINISTRATION:

ü  Maintain appropriate logs and records

ü  Organizes and promote PMS (Preventive Maintenance System) with particular

ü  emphasis on safety defined in the MPP manual

ü  Approve and sign IADC report

ü  Submit reports

ü  Oversee departmental logs and records

ü  Comply with requirements of regulatory agencies

ü  Oversee company rig training program

 

·         TECHNICAL/DIAGNOSTIC SKILLS:

ü  Prepares cementing and casing running with operator

ü  Finds information on parts, equipment, data and/or operations procedures as

ü  required using such sources as composite catalogs, cementing tables, tubular

ü  data books

ü  Read blueprints

ü  Perform calculations such as maximum allowable shut-in, casing burst pressure,

ü  hang-off point, mud weight increase, initial and final circulating pressures,

ü  hydrostatic pressure & volumes, displacement, maximum allowable mud weight

ü  and drill line work

ü  Interpret and responds appropriately to down hole conditions

ü  Demonstrate full knowledge of well control procedures

ü  Read and interpret various types of gauges, meters and instruments such as

ü  torque meter, weight indicator, pressure gauges, various chart recorders

ü  Assist operator in efficient use of rig

ü  Ensure subordinates know, understand and follow guidelines of the QHSE manual,

ü  well control policies and other general operating policies and procedures

ü  Use computer to prepare daily drilling report and for compiling WPA report at

ü  end of each well

 

·         Competence Requirements:

ü  Will have at least 8 years experience within the oil drilling industry and have at least 2 years in International Operations.

ü  Will hold a IWCF Certificates (Supervisor level)

ü  Will have a thorough theoretical and practical knowledge of Drilling Operations and all equipment used on the rigs.  Where necessary his experience shall be supplemented to include the operation of semi automatic pipe handling and drilling equipment.

ü  Shall be able to communicate fluently in written and spoken English.

ü  Shall complete all training Requirements as outlined in Abraj Energy’s Training Requirement Schedule.

ü  Shall hold a valid light vehicle driving license (ROP) for Sultanate of Oman.
