This course provides intensive hands-on training for production end-users, building information modeling (BIM) project managers, and other design professionals seeking to create and work on intelligent building models in an integrated construction documentation environment.
Upon completion of this program, students have the knowledge and skill to:
Apply BIM core concepts, principles, and strategies to building projects
Develop a collaborative working environment with BIM
Choose parametric modeling and employ Autodesk Revit software for building projects
Design building geometry, identify spatial relationships, and develop and capture geographic information using BIM
Measure quantities and identify properties of building components
Perform BIM design development, contract administration, and coordination
Course Description
This hands-on, lab based course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of Autodesk’s Revit platform the tools and features are common to Revit MEP. Topics include the key concepts of BIM and Revit; reading and manipulating the Revit interface; navigating within views; selection methods; the importance of levels grids; creating walls, doors, windows, and components; working with essential modification commands and load family; creating floors, ceilings, and stairs; working with type and instance parameters; importing CAD drawings to convert to Revit geometry; understanding the project browser and type properties palettes; adding sheets; inserting views onto sheets; adding dimensions and text to the model; and plotting.
Learn to use the advanced functions of Autodesk Revit Architecture by creating custom walls, floors, and roofs; collaborating within Revit; creating compound walls, floors, and ceilings; Keynoting; working with mass elements; enhancing rendering with lighting; producing customized materials; adding decals; working with design options and worksets; and calculating energy analysis
